The goal of the Espinoza-Fonseca group is to understand the molecular basis for the regulation and dysregulation of calcium transport in the heart, and to design effective molecular therapies to treat heart failure and arrhythmias. We approach these multidisciplinary problems with a combination of experimental techniques and computational methods.

Our work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, Michigan Drug Discovery, the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, the American Heart Association, and the Michigan-Israel Partnership for Education. We have also been supported by the Advanced Research Computing at the University of Michigan and the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE).
